Looking for an analog to a Sig Sauer MCX or FN SCAR at a significant cost reduction? Enter the Bushmaster ACR. The Bushmaster ACR is a short-stroke piston operated rifle inspired by/related to ArmaLite’s AR-18. Are they in in production? No. Will they come back? Maybe. Can you still buy a used one for $2,500 or less? Yes.
My friend has an early production run (low serial #) one. He has informed me that not everything is perfect and peachy with this firearm. Here’s some of the less-than ideal features of this toy:
The trigger has room to improve. I assume he’s talking trigger travel distance, stages (mushy-ness), and reset. I’ll work to gather further details on this.
Over-inserting the mag is possible and can result in malfunction.
Every product has it’s weak points. Some products, including the Bushmaster ACR, have weak points that are tolerable and reconcilable. My friend suggest rating this firearm overall as a 3.5/5 experience, but because it’s certainly not boring I’m rating it:
